I am an accredited BACP therapist who works with children, adolescents, parents, adults and couples at my Fulham Practice and The Child and Family Practice in Bloomsbury. Having worked in a Mediation Centre, I have over 10 years of experience supporting families who are separating and divorcing. Amongst the families I support are children with special needs. To help with Trauma and anxiety I can offer EMDR for adults. This is a very efficacious treatment that helps alleviate many issues.
I provide a calm, safe and empathic space. I tend to focus on more immediate problems, be more practically based and shorter term than psychoanalytic therapy. I seek to increase a person’s self awareness, self esteem, boost confidence and help to understand past influences.
My work with children is facilitated by my training as a play-therapist. I am non directive and follow cues from your child.
I use a wholesome and organic approach tailored to the needs of my client. I am known to make referrals to other specialist such as nutritionists, craniosacral osteopaths, alternative therapists, Ed Psychs and other such like.
Having worked with children since 2005 and working in a Mediation Centre, I have observed a series of themes and issues I have encountered. Please see blog for further articles.

How it works
You will generally be offered the same date and time every week, although I can be flexible to fit around your schedule. I offer day time, evening and weekend appointments, as well as over the phone or on Skype.
Children, parent, families or individual/adult sessions last 50 min. Relationship and couple counselling sessions last 90 minutes. I can offer classroom observations and home visits.
Sessions at both my Fulham and Bloomsbury Practice are on a sliding scale, please get in contact to discuss. There is a 48hour notice (working hours) for any cancellations.
Sessions are completely confidential and should I see one partner individually the same confidentiality rules apply.
Testimonials
Steph is a fantastic therapist who has provided me with tremendous support in coping with my father’s passing and navigating my career challenges. She has helped boost my self-confidence and address feelings of inadequacy at work. She also helped me navigate gender and political issues that have shaped my life and thinking and explore intergenerational trauma. Steph has also guided me in understanding my family dynamics, allowing me to truly enjoy spending time with them. I’m very grateful for her support and her tremendous ability to always put things into perspective.
I started seeing Steph for EMDR after developing OCD symptoms that consumed most aspects of my life. The sessions weren’t always easy but made big changes week on week. I was initially skeptical of EMDR having read that it was often used to treat PTSD and not typically OCD. However, I am now certain that regular talking therapy would not have had the same effect as EMDR did. Steph made me have the difficult conversations that I needed to have, provided tools that I could implement in my day to day life, and before I realised I was letting go of these unhealthy routines and returning to the person I used to be. I appreciated Steph approaching conversations with a level of honesty, and calling me out in the way I was acting within my relationship. I am the happiest I have been in a long time, and that is all attributable to the EMDR and the way Steph approaches difficult topics
Our son was in a difficult and complex situation. Despite seeing several specialists, he remained closed off and unresponsive. Stéphanie took the time to truly listen to him. She never gave up, and gradually earned his trust and appreciation. For the first time, he felt understood and began to accept help, eventually even looking forward to their sessions. Stéphanie maintained open communication with us throughout, and we wholeheartedly recommend her as an exceptional therapist.
Steph has worked her magic with me over the last 10 months to help me work through my anxiety after suffering for many years. She has helped me understand why I feel anxious and also break down my ‘anxiety’ into more manageable chunks which has helped me enormously in tackling my feelings of overwhelm. Steph has armed me with the tools I need to cope more effectively in day to day life. Thoroughly grateful.
“Stephanie provided a safe and supportive space for my child to explore their worries. They enjoyed an array of creative activities which created a calming environment for discussions. I will always be grateful for Stephanie’s work and care at a tricky part of parenthood.”
Steph provided play therapy sessions for my ten year old son when he was experiencing a lot of anxiety. She developed a rapport with him straight away, picked up quickly what his interests were and thoughtfully picked out activities he found calming and interesting.
The anxiety has faded away, which is a great outcome. As well as this, the sessions have shown my son that talking about your worries can help, and I believe this has given him a valuable lifelong strategy for his future mental health and wellbeing.
I hope all parents see your value as one of the most important contributions to child’s development as this day and age calls for sharing and expressing one’s feelings more than ever.
Am so grateful for all your time throughout the years. Your help contributed so much in my daughters growth, strength and confidence in who she is. I am so glad our paths have crossed in this lifetime and it was for a good purpose.
My Daughter has come a long way and everything that took place in her life made her the person she is today. With time to reflect she appreciates so much and many times she has commented “thank god for Stephanie”. She has had many peers in college on anti depressive drugs and consequences were very brutal especially in teenage years, when all kids need is understanding and support more than ever.
Steph is a wonderful therapist who has supported me whenever I needed her over the past few years. She helped me bounce back after really struggling with my father’s passing, and more recently navigating separation and divorce. She helps me to put my thoughts and feelings in perspective, and it is such a comfort knowing I can call on her. Thank you.
Stephanie has been of great help to me over the last couple of years. I have always felt she wanted to approach therapy as something that worked for me and not just generic techniques that ‘should’ work. Not only that I feel rest assured that if I never need her support again I could reach out – she has proven this already and made great effort to fit me into her schedule which I greatly appreciated!
Thank you so much for helping me with all my worries, it means so much to me. I really appreciate it.
I immediately felt I was able to talk, was being understood and wasn’t being judged.
My child was nervous when he first came for session but by the second session was running up to see Steph, bringing with him medals, photos and treasures to show her. He clearly valued his time enormously, felt safe and supported. He said it was ‘his time’…he came out smiling and looking confident.
My expectations of counselling were low — Steph changed my view on this. My daughter has been a different person over the past few months. Steph has restored her confidence and belief. My experience as a parent was totally positive.
Talking to Steph has been a lifeline not just to help my child to build his confidence and self-esteem but also for me — I can see how much good it does him. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
My daughter was made to feel at ease and comfortable. Steph was excellent and my expectations were exceeded. Our daughter has returned to her former ‘happy self’. Excellent!. Keep up the good work!’
I honestly do not know what I would do without your practice – it has made a huge difference to my son and helped immeasurably.
I came to counselling to resolve worries over my future, my place in the world and the relationships I have with those close to me. I’m more confident about what lies ahead. I have more peace of mind. I’ve learned how to handle my issues. I liked the compassion and intelligence of my counsellor.
I was having bad anxiety and feeling depressed. It has helped me learn how to cope with daily life and understand my emotions better. I really appreciated having a down to earth and understanding counsellor. Thank you, Steph.
I was hoping for family support as my husband and I were separating and my eldest daughter has been refusing school for the prior one and a half terms. Life is very much improved since our collective time working with Steph and daughter is sooo great! Steph is a gem. Steph makes it feel very personal, non institutional, non bureaucratic.
I knew Steph from before so was confident she would help my daughter resolve issues. My expectations were more than met. I think she does an excellent job.
My daughter was becoming increasingly introverted, obsessive, tearful, withdrawn. I needed her to talk to someone other than me to talk to – Steph was fantastic. Lifesaver. Really helped our family dynamic.
I have a better relationship with my Dad. I’m not worried all the time and can talk to him about things. Steph was amazing. Very kind and made me feel safe. Thanks.
Excellent service – I don’t know what my children or I could have done without it.
It exceeded my expectations. Total understanding and able to make myself and my two children cope better and be able to get through this first year since our separation.
Didn’t know what to expect but Steph has been brilliant, very gentle and insightful. My son is massively so much better. I am so grateful.
I was feeling very depressed a lot of the time, often for no reason. I no longer feel so sad and feel I have more confidence. I liked having a session each week with someone I felt comfortable talking to. Thank you so so much for all your help.
I found the service to be unique and very responsive to individual and changing needs. It’s been a real plus to have the ability to mix and match i.e. go with the young person, then both separately and together. You have been a terrific support proving insight for both of us and I felt secure and supported.
Stress relief, less worried, great confidence booster, educational. Friendly and approachable.
I feel like I was supported as much as possible and felt having these sessions with Steph helped me enormously.
Less anxious, less alone. I liked having someone to support me and help me through my problems.
Good ideas for coping and relating. Helped improve understanding of my child.
Supportive, understanding, empathic and sympathetic. All expectations exceeded and surpassed.
My daughter has benefitted enormously from the counselling and she has very fond thoughts about her experiences of visiting Steph. I am really pleased with the progress that has been made because it has had a direct affect on the tendency to be angry and aggressive. It has helped me to understand some of the issues she is facing. Heartfelt thanks for everything you have done Steph.
FAQs
Please feel free to contact me and we have a chat without any commitment and if you feel comfortable enough then we can meet up and see from there.
If you are a parent and not sure I would suggest we meet up and discuss further. Should you then be happy to continue I would invite you and your child to come and see whether they feel comfortable and want to come back.
My training is a mix of theories, I have trained in both Integrative and Psychodynamic Counselling. The basis of my work is founded on psychodynamic concepts but value the influences of the humanistic values.
I work with all age groups, adults, young people, the elderly, parents and families with more specialised needs such as additional needs and more physical needs.
Focusing on improving a person’s self awareness, self esteem, boost confidence and look at unhelpful patterns of behaviour that inhibit and impede getting the most of out of your life.
In the sessions I work with a selection of mediums to assist the child/adolescent in expressing themselves the best they can; such mediums include painting, playdo, clay, finger paints, puppets and Lego. The creative techniques remain age appropriate and suitable for children and adolescents. I can visit schools, offer class observations and offer regular parent feedback.
